Why is a TIN Important?

  • Tax Compliance: It allows you to file your tax returns and pay your taxes legally.
  • Tax Clearance Certificate (ITF263): Once you are registered and your tax affairs are in order, you can apply for a Tax Clearance Certificate. This is crucial for businesses, as without it, clients are required by law to withhold 10% of their payment to you.
  • Formal Business: It is a key step in formalising your business operations and allows you to bid for tenders and work with larger companies.
